There are times when offers and promotions are essential to attract attention, get clients and generate some much-needed cash. Different types of offers and promotions include:

But if you’re ready to get started on some promos that you can have ready to go as and when you need them, this is for you. It might feel like a waste of time, if you don’t know that you’re going to use them, but when things get busy, you’ll be SO glad you did the hard work now.

Planning and being prepared to run your promotions includes:

  • Fine-tune the details of the offer
  • Write the words that will attract people to the offer
  • Choose the photos you’ll use for the campaign
  • Create the ad groups you want to target in Facebook business manager
  • Drop the key promotions into an calendar so you have a plan for the year.

These are your money-making promotions that you should support with advertising budget. When you’re running these too-good-to-be-true salon offers, it’s really important to create some urgency. How do you do that? Simple, you create scarcity, with either a limited time offer, or a limited amount available.

Book your next 2 appointments special

What: An added incentive when they book their next two appointments within a 10 week period at the same time.
Why: Clients are much more likely to attend an appointment that’s already booked, this is a way to reward them for their commitment.
When not to use it:
When your re-booking rates are really high, or if it’s going to result in you having to give refunds.
Details: A set amount £10 or a percentage discount off one or both of the appointments (calculate this based on your figures).
How to promote it: Website, email, social media.

5 for the price of 4

What: A fifth service free of charge when they pay for four up front.
Why: It’s a win-win, you get the cash you need, they get a big thank you.
When not to use it:
If you can’t cope with the idea of feeling like you’re working for free at the end of the promo.
Details: This offer all has to be used on the same service such as cuts, or colours and it all needs to be paid up front. If you use this as a promotion for blowdries or a lower value service, I recommend increasing the amount so they buy 9 and get the 10th free.
How to promote it: Website, email, social media.
